Today, we'll learn a little bit about our Solutions Expert, Bethany.

What is your full name?

Bethany Anneke Parr.

My middle name is Friese and is after my grandmother (she and my grandfather immigrated from Friesland, a province in the Netherlands). It is pronounced U-nni-ka.

Where did you grow up?

Right here in Chatham! Both my parents grew up here too. Fun Fact: I have family that immigrated to the Raleigh Township area in the 1820s!

Where did you go to school?

Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

What's your superpower (what role do you play on the team)?

I am a Solutions Expert! I assess people’s security needs and concerns and then help them choose the best security package for their home and/or business.

Why did you move back to Chatham?

I moved back home for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, I have both immediate and extended family here and wanted to settle close to them. I had been 12(ish) hours away for the 5 years I was in University.

Secondly, I like the Chatham/Southwestern Ontario area, I believe we have a lot to offer and are situated in a unique place in the world. We are close to the US, a couple hours outside of Toronto, and a few hours from several other major cities. We have numerous beaches, two Provincial parks, a National park, rivers, lakes, and tributaries. We are leading experts in agriculture (including greenhouse technology, a field I worked in for 3 summers), renewable energy, classic car restoration, and more. We have numerous museums and notable historical sites, including the largest black settlement in North America from the mid 1800s, The Buxton Settlement, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and Black Mecca.

There are countless smaller communities with so much to offer. And of course the best thing, Chatham-Kent won Boardwalk on the Canadian Monopoly board in 2010.

Why did you join JM Security Canada?

I joined JM for a couple reasons.

I have prior sales experience when I worked in South Carolina doing referral-based, face-to-face product demonstrations of a Bible book set. I loved listening to people’s concerns and helping them find solutions.

Having heard the stories of break-ins, experienced theft myself, and witnessed crime rising, I want to do my best to help make my community safer and more secure. Home and small business security is a part of that.

I have known Jeff McFadden, William Bain, and others at JM for years. I trust their experience, motivation, and believe JM Security Canada is one of the best options for home security in the area.

The founders are experts in the field of smart home security and smart home automation, and are leaders in the community. As a team, we are pursuing a safer, more secure community that will benefit the everyone.

What do you do for fun?

I love cooking great food, reading good books, working on my podcast RenewTheology, listening to podcasts, volunteering with my church’s youth group, hanging out with family, and spending time with friends. I also love going swing dancing!

What's your favourite food?

That is a really hard question because I’m a “foodie”. I don’t have a single favourite! I love fresh, good ingredients with unique flavour combinations.

Current go-tos are: sweet potato fries with Jalapeno Lime Aioli, PC Peppermint Chocolate with Chocolate Fudge Crackle Ice Cream, Pad Thai, and Blueberry Oatmeal muffins.

What's your favourite holiday?

My favourite holiday is Easter!
